1.6 Mobile Number Identification and Caller Information
FindMobile may provide caller identification, mobile number lookup, and number verification services. To provide these features, we may process mobile numbers and related information in the following ways:
- User Registration: We collect and verify your mobile number using OTP or verification methods to create and maintain your account.
- Number Identification: When you search for or check a mobile number, FindMobile may compare the number against our database and publicly available data sources to provide identification details such as name, device details, or status.
- User-Contributed Information: Users may voluntarily submit or tag phone numbers with names, device details, or spam reports to help improve the accuracy of our services.
- Spam and Fraud Detection: Mobile numbers may be analyzed and categorized to detect spam, fraudulent activity, or suspicious behavior to improve user safety.
- Public and Third-Party Sources: We may combine user-submitted data with publicly available or legally obtained third-party data sources to improve caller identification accuracy.
- Search Visibility: If your mobile number is registered with FindMobile, certain information associated with your number may become searchable within the FindMobile platform, depending on your privacy settings.
You may request removal or restriction of your mobile number information at any time by contacting our support team or using available opt-out tools within the app or website.
1.7 Caller ID Feature — Call Log and Phone State NEW
This section explains how FindMobile uses sensitive phone permissions for the Caller ID feature.
When you enable the Caller ID feature in Settings, FindMobile requests the following permissions:
-
READ_PHONE_STATE: Used to detect when an incoming call arrives so the app can trigger the caller lookup process.
-
READ_CALL_LOG: On Android 9 and above, the operating system does not provide the incoming caller's phone number via the standard broadcast without this permission. FindMobile reads only the most recent incoming call entry at the moment of the call — solely to retrieve the caller's phone number for identification. No call history is stored, uploaded, or analyzed.
-
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Display Over Apps): Required to display the caller information overlay on top of the incoming call screen before the user answers.
How Caller ID works:
- The feature is opt-in only — it is disabled by default and must be manually enabled in Settings
- It only activates for unknown numbers — numbers already saved in your contacts are never looked up
- The phone number is sent to the FindMobile API to retrieve the caller's name, network provider, and region
- The call log is accessed only at the moment of the incoming call and only to read the caller's number
- No call log data is stored, shared, or transmitted to any server — only the phone number itself is used for the lookup
- The overlay is dismissed automatically when the call ends
2. How We Use Your Information
- Service Delivery: To provide core features like device tracking, IMEI status checking, and device recovery
- Location Services: To display your device location on maps and provide real-time tracking
- Authentication: To verify your identity and secure your account using OTP
- Communication: To send important notifications, alerts, and updates about your devices
- Device Management: To help you manage multiple devices and track their status
- Caller ID: To identify unknown incoming callers using the FindMobile number database when you have enabled this feature
- Analytics: To analyze usage patterns and improve app performance
- Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

3. Location Data Usage
Why We Need Location:
- Track lost or stolen devices in real-time
- Show device location on interactive maps
- Create location history and movement patterns
- Send location-based alerts and notifications
- Help recover lost devices by sharing location with authorities
Location Control: You can enable or disable location services at any time in your device settings. Disabling location will limit tracking functionality.
4. Foreground Services NEW
FindMobile uses Android Foreground Services to perform tasks that are visible and noticeable to the user even when they are not actively interacting with the app. A persistent notification is always displayed while any foreground service is running.
4.1 Location Tracking Service
- Permission used: FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION
- Purpose: Continuously tracks your device's GPS location in the background when you enable location tracking in Settings
- User control: Only runs when explicitly enabled by the user. Can be stopped at any time from Settings
- Notification: A persistent notification is always visible while this service is active
4.2 Caller ID Service
- Permission used: FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC
- Purpose: Fetches caller information from the FindMobile API when an incoming call is detected, and displays the result as an overlay on the call screen
- Duration: The service starts when a call arrives and stops automatically when the call ends — typically lasting only a few seconds
- User control: Only runs when the Caller ID feature is enabled in Settings
- Notification: A persistent notification is shown for the duration of the call
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data only in these circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party services (Google Play Services, Firebase, Google Maps) that help us operate the app
- Caller ID API: The caller's phone number is sent to the FindMobile API solely for identification. No other personal data is shared
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government regulation
- Device Recovery: With law enforcement or authorized parties to help recover stolen devices
- Business Transfers: In case of merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share your information
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using SSL/TLS
- Secure Storage: Personal data is stored on secure servers with access controls
- Authentication: OTP-based login to prevent unauthorized access
- Regular Audits: We conduct security audits and updates regularly
- Data Minimization: We collect only the data necessary for service operation
- Call Log: Call log data is never stored — it is read in memory only at the moment of an incoming call and immediately discarded after the phone number is extracted
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
- Active Accounts: Data is retained while your account is active
- Inactive Accounts: Accounts inactive for 90 consecutive days will be automatically deleted
- Location History: Location data may be retained for up to 12 months for tracking purposes
- Call Log Data: Not retained — read only at the moment of an incoming call and never stored
- Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer for legal, security, or fraud prevention purposes
- Log Data: Server logs and error reports are retained for up to 90 days
